The following measures will be helpful to reduce the spread of skin infections to other contacts:
  • Keep fingernails clean and short to avoid scratching and breaking the skin.
  • Avoid touching infected skin and prevent others from touching them too.
  • Wash hands after touching affected skin.
  • Wash hands before and after applying creams or ointments to the affected skin.
  • Do not share towels or personal items until the infection is completely treated.
  • Do not let your child return to school or childcare facilities until the lesions are dried and healed.
