Common Symptoms of Low Vision

Light and dark adaptation

Refers to the ability of our eyes adjusting to different lighting conditions.


People with poor light and dark adaptation may report the following:

  • Taking longer time to adjust to changes in lighting conditions
  • Difficulty seeing when entering/exiting dark places like cinemas


What can be done?

  • Use of appropriate sunglasses colour tones to help manage
     


Common conditions that are associated with poor light and dark adaptation

  • Cone rod dystrophy
  • Retinitis pigmentosa
