Ocular Inflammation & Immunology

Synonym(s):

The Ocular Inflammation & Immunology department provides specialised care for patients with complex and sight-threatening inflammatory eye diseases. As a national referral centre, led by Dr Anita Chan (Head and Senior Consultant).

It manages a high clinical load of uveitis, scleritis, and systemic autoimmune-associated ocular conditions. Care is guided by protocol-based management and close collaboration with Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, and Oncology divisions. It has introduced safer intravitreal methotrexate protocols for intraocular lymphoma, supported by rapid-access clinics, early steroid-sparing treatments, and close monitoring. Moving forward, it continues to expand services and train new specialists to meet the evolving needs of patients.
