What Is the Purpose of An Eye Screening Examination?

Many eye conditions develop without symptoms. In Singapore, around 50% of the population has some form of vision impairment. An eye screening examination could detect serious eye diseases like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy, some of which often show no early signs.

Our General Eye Screening Package involves a thorough check of your eyesight and eye health—even if you have no symptoms. Some conditions may have no symptoms in the early stages, and the role of eye screening is to detect these problems early, with prompt treatment where required. This package is suitable for adults of all ages, including both contact lens and spectacle wearers. We would like to support you in taking a proactive approach on your health.

What Are Included in SNEC’s Eye Screening Package?

Basic Package ($200 before GST)

• Visual Acuity: Assessment of how clearly you see at distance and near
• Tonometry: Measurement of eye pressure to screen for conditions such as glaucoma
• Refraction: Determination your precise spectacle or contact lens prescription for sharp, comfortable vision
• Colour Vision Test: Screening for red‑green colour deficiencies that can affect daily tasks and certain occupations
• Fundus Examination: Detailed assessment of the optic nerve, macula, and retina to look for signs of diabetes‑related changes, macular degeneration, and other retinal conditions
• Slit-Lamp & Anterior Segment Exam: High‑magnification evaluation of the eyelids, cornea, anterior chamber, iris, and lens, including early cataract changes
• Consultation with Specialist: Personalised review of your findings, tailored advice, and a management plan where needed

Premium Package (with additional tests to Basic Package) – ($390 before GST)

Fundus Examination (Ultra-wide field)

Detailed assessment of the optic nerve, macula, and retina to look for signs of diabetes‑related changes, macular degeneration, and other retinal conditions.

Optical Coherence Tomography (Nerve)

High‑resolution imaging of the retinal nerve fibre layer to aid early detection and monitoring of glaucoma risk.

Optical Coherence Tomography (Macula)

Cross sectional imaging of the macula to pick up subtle changes related to conditions such as macular degeneration or diabetic macular involvement—often before they affect vision.
