Retina Observation Clinic

The Retina Observation Clinic (ROC) is a clinic where we monitor patients with the following conditions:

  • No existing retinal disease detected but at risk of developing retina conditionStable retina condition
  • Stable retina condition

You will be referred to ROC by our eye specialists if your condition is deemed suitable.

At ROC, a series of tests will be conducted based on clinical pathways. Our nursing team will perform tests such as visual acuity, measuring of intraocular (eye) pressure, dilation of eyes and counsel patient on medication compliance. In addition, our ophthalmic Medical Technologists will perform various investigation tests such as Humphrey Visual Field (HVF), Optical Coherence Topography (OCT).

All reports will be reviewed by Ophthalmologist backend and the next care path will be ordered.

Please note that you will not be seen by a doctor at that visit. If you have any new visual complaints (e.g., increased blurring of vision), please inform the nurse to have it recorded in your medical notes.

Your medical notes and results will then be reviewed by a doctor in the retina team within one month. Depending on the doctor’s assessment, one of the following will be arranged for you:

  • You will be given an appointment in ROC for further examination or tests
  • You will be given a follow-up appointment in ROC if your condition is stable but still requires monitoring
  • You will be discharged if you are no longer at increased risk of developing retina condition

You will be informed via SMS regarding the outcome of the visit. Medications, if any, will be sent via courier service to your address.
