"Golden Eye": The Eye Ball 2019

27 September 2019 – The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

Singapore's population is uniquely vulnerable to eye diseases and eye disorders at every life stage.

Our ageing population is rising rapidly. By 2030, a quarter of our population may be above the age of 65, and this is likely to lead to an increase in eye diseases and the demand for eye care.

Singapore also has one of the highest rates of myopia in the world. One in two children develop myopia by the age of 12 while one in five adults have high myopia which may lead to early cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal detachment. Alarmingly, many of these conditions may result in low vision and even blindness in mid to late adulthood.

Yet, 80% of blindness is preventable.

The VisionSave programme recently helped 55-year-old Steven Seow access second line treatment to save him from permanent blindness.

By then, Steven had his left leg amputated due to diabetes, lost his job and did not respond to the first line of drugs that would have been covered by Medisave.

We are actively trying to save sight and help the underprivileged with vision challenges but we need your help to make our efforts go even further!

THE EYE BALL 2019, in its ninth edition, will have a "Golden Eye" theme with a jam-packed programme of music, live entertainment and gourmet treats.

Here's how you can make a difference:

  1. Make a donation where you will be invited to take up a seat or table at THE EYE BALL 2019, and/or
