As part of SNEC’s commitment to teaching and training, we welcome ophthalmologists from around the world to visit and observe clinical practice, including surgery.
Typically, the observership experience ranges in duration from several days to two weeks. Within this framework, observing ophthalmologists have the opportunity to arrange a programme in any of our subspecialty areas that includes clinical experience and surgery. These areas include:
Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology
Corneal & External Eye Diseases
Ocular Inflammation & Immunology
Oculoplastic, Orbital & Lacrimal Surgery
Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus

Please note that an administrative fee of SGD160.50 (inclusive of GST) is applicable for each successful candidate, payable when accepting the offer. This fee is non-refundable.
Ophthalmologists who chose to undertake the Clinical Observership programme may select their discipline of interest. The programmes encompass clinical experiences, research and surgery.

Clinical observerships are hands-off and capped at a maximum of 3 months
All clinical observerships are subject to approval of temporary medical registration and training employment pass
Accommodation, registration fees, personal insurance and all other expenses will be borne by the Clinical Observer
SNEC supports clinical teaching for undergraduate medical students. Kindly refer to this
