Observerships

Hands-off Observerships

As part of SNEC’s commitment to teaching and training, we welcome ophthalmologists from around the world to visit and observe clinical practice, including surgery.

Typically, the observership experience ranges in duration from several days to two weeks. Within this framework, observing ophthalmologists have the opportunity to arrange a programme in any of our subspecialty areas that includes clinical experience and surgery. These areas include:

If you are keen to apply, please complete the attached application form and submit with copies of the following documents (translated into English, if required) to trainingandeducation@snec.com.sg.

  • Basic and postgraduate qualifications

  • Current medical license/registration with the local medical council

  • Current medical malpractice insurance

  • List of surgical experience

  • Passport size photograph

Please note that an administrative fee of SGD160.50 (inclusive of GST) is applicable for each successful candidate, payable when accepting the offer. This fee is non-refundable.


Clinical Observerships

Ophthalmologists who chose to undertake the Clinical Observership programme may select their discipline of interest. The programmes encompass clinical experiences, research and surgery.

Please note:

  • Clinical observerships are hands-off and capped at a maximum of 3 months

  • All clinical observerships are subject to approval of temporary medical registration and training employment pass

  • Accommodation, registration fees, personal insurance and all other expenses will be borne by the Clinical Observer
