The Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme (EYE ACP), jointly launched by SingHealth and Duke-NUS, is a cluster-wide framework providing resources and funding for ophthalmologists to advance in academic medicine. Key appointment holders appointed include chair, and vice chairs for education and research.
To ensure world-class healthcare outcomes, the EYE ACP focuses on developing a comprehensive framework of existing well-established research capabilities in SERI and the training capabilities in SNEC.
SNEC and SERI remain focused on the pursuit of excellence in clinical care, medical education and research. The EYE ACP is a timely initiative by formalising academic medicine in ophthalmology and supporting our staff commitment for greater excellence in clinical care, education and research in the field of ophthalmology.
The key aims of EYE ACP are:
Develop into an international eye centre that is within the top 10 centres in the world in clinical service and top five in the world in research output in five years
Establish a three-pronged mission to deliver excellence in eye care, teaching and research
Build a sustainable track record of high-quality education and research programmes
Identify and develop the next generation of academically-focused clinicians, clinician educators and clinician scientists / investigators, who will play leadership roles in the EYE ACP
EYE ACP will develop outreach programmes to countries where eye care is limited and provide development support to fill critical manpower gaps in these countries.
In the longer term, EYE ACP's initiatives aim to propel SNEC/SERI into a world-class leader in the eye-related research, education and patient care.
