Assoc Prof Damon Wong is a Principal Investigator in the Ocular Imaging Department at the Singapore Eye Research Institute and holds a joint appointment as an Associate Professor with SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme (EYE ACP).
Assoc Prof Wong has been generally interested in exploring the use of computer vision, data science and artificial intelligence-driven techniques in healthcare with a focus in ophthalmology. He has been actively involved in developing approaches to better detect image-based biomarkers in major eye conditions including glaucoma, myopia and age-related macular degeneration.
Currently, his research revolves around the use of structural and vascular imaging for visual function modelling. He is also particularly interested in the application of AI-driven techniques to characterise vision-threatening conditions, enhance the prediction of progression detection from structural and functional modalities, and explore the use of synthetic data in ophthalmology.
