Profile

Dr Ryan Man is a senior clinical research fellow in the Population Health Research Unit at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and also holds a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. As a practising optometrist at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), he has a keen interest in assessing the impact of eye diseases and associated treatment modalities from a patient’s perspective using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). His current work focuses on developing new PROMs utilizing novel and sophisticated technologies like item banking (IB) and computerized adaptive testing (CAT) to rapidly and precisely measure patient-reported outcomes for vision-threatening diseases, including pathologic myopia, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, and their various treatment modalities. He has also published widely in other areas of health services and public health research including risk factors associated with the development and progression of eye diseases, randomized controlled trials evaluating novel ocular intervention strategies, as well as the effectiveness of behavioural interventions to improve patient outcomes in ophthalmology.
