A/Prof Goh is the Chief of Trauma Service and formerly the Deputy Head (Education) of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. His clinical expertise includes pelvic and acetabular fractures, fractures of the upper and lower limbs, osteoporotic fractures in the elderly, sports injuries, and hip and knee replacements.
An advocate for technological advancements in orthopaedic surgery, A/Prof Goh is highly proficient in computer navigation-assisted pelvic trauma surgery, total knee replacements, and hip replacements, having trained in these techniques since the mid-2000s. Since 2015, he has also incorporated robotic-assisted surgery into hip and knee procedures, utilizing Robodoc, Makoplasty, and Navio systems, after undergoing specialized training in South Korea and the United States. While working in London, he trained in the Oxford Partial Knee System and later became the first surgeon in Singapore to introduce this knee replacement technique in 2014.
A/Prof Goh plays a role in medical education, teaching medical students from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medical School, and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine during their orthopaedic rotations. He frequently serves as an examiner for local university medical programs and sits on committees for the NUS Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh examinations, assessing surgeons undergoing orthopaedic specialist training.
As a faculty member of the SingHealth Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, A/Prof Goh mentors and trains future orthopaedic surgeons. He also leads and participates in various local and regional surgical training courses, serving as course chairman or faculty in trauma/fracture management, hip and knee replacements, and the Oxford Partial Knee Replacement system.
A/Prof Goh obtained his medical degree from the University of Cambridge, England, in 2000. He completed his orthopaedic specialist training and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008.
In 2008, he was among the pioneer cohort of Ministry of Health Training Scholarship recipients, enabling him to pursue an 18-month surgical fellowship in London, England. During this time, he trained under leading orthopaedic surgeons at St. George’s Hospital NHS Trust (as a Pelvis, Hip, and Knee Replacement Fellow) and Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospital NHS Trust (as a Hip Fellow).
Beyond his clinical work, A/Prof Goh is an active researcher, having published in leading peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals. He also serves as a peer reviewer for both local and international orthopaedic publications.
He was the founding chairman of the Singapore Orthopaedic Trauma Society and formerly the Chairman of the Chapter of Orthopaedic Surgeons in the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
