  • Associate Professor, Oral Health ACP, Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore;
  • Visiting Associate Professor, Graduate Program in Dentistry, Federal University of Maranhão, Brazil.

Research Interests

Gustavo's research comprises the association between oral and systemic diseases, as well as methodological aspects of oral and dental research. His research has paved the way for a broader understanding of periodontitis as a non-communicable disease resulting from exposure to detrimental health behaviors over the life course. Additionally, Gustavo has been interested in the role of oral inflammation in the senses of smell and taste and, ultimately, food preferences. Gustavo has joined the NDRIS and Duke-NUS Medical School, willing to apply cutting-edge analytical approaches to investigate the relationship between oral and systemic diseases among Singaporeans using available health registries.
