KK Eye Centre

The KK Eye Centre was established in 1999 with only two consultation rooms. It moved to its current premises in 2007 and now has six consultation rooms.

The centre currently receives 24,000 patient visits per year. This service actively co-manages children from the neonatal genetic and other subspecialty teams and also provides back-up and follow-up services to the Children’s Emergency Department at the hospital.

The KK Eye Centre is led by Adjunct Associate Professor Audrey Chia who works with a team of visiting paediatric ophthalmologists from SNEC, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and the private sector. It is also supported by its own team of resident physicians and registrars, nurses and optometrists.

Services
Besides managing common paediatric eye disorders (e.g. amblyopia, strabismus and myopia), the KK Eye Centre also treats and manages congenital, developmental and genetic eye conditions; retinopathy or prematurity; retinoblastoma; childhood ocular trauma; and childhood oculoplastic and neuro-ophthalmic diseases.

It also works with SNEC to manage complex childhood anterior segment, glaucoma and retinal conditions.

Clinical audits of the clinic’s paediatric cases are combined with those at SNEC and presented annually at SNEC’s Quality Assurance Seminars.
