Overview

Course Summary

The 1-day workshop will include theoretical lectures on FEMTIS refractive optics, live surgical observations  for practical exposure, and hands-on sessions in a dry lab setting. Key topics include the diversity of IOL lenses, optimizing surgical steps in cataract surgery, creation of optimal CCC, and addressing postoperative lens adjustments. Additionally, the program will cover advanced techniques and technologies in automated capsulorrhexis creation and effective strategies to reduce the risks of dysphotopsia. Upon completion, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of IOLs, equipped with practical skills for their application in surgical settings and an enhanced ability to improve patient outcomes.

 

Course Objectives

Participants will be able to:

• Illustrate the unique optical properties of Intraocular lenses and their benefits as well as implications in surgical practice
• Understand the range of Teleon IOLs available and their applications
• Identify the optimized steps in cataract surgery, including optimal Continuous Curvilinear Capsulorrhexis (CCC) creation and postoperative adjustments for lens decentration or tilt
• Observe intraocular lens procedures in action through cataract live surgeries
• Acquire hands-on experience in IOL loading, alignment, and fixation during the dry lab session
• Explore various devices for automated capsulorrhexis creation and their benefits in enhancing surgical precision and outcomes
• Equip with knowledge to reduce risks of dysphotopsia and improve patient quality of life through advanced lens technologies
