Dr Fiona Lim graduated from National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2010 as one of the top medical students in her cohort with distinction in surgery. She did her ophthalmology residency training in Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and was awarded the Ministry of Health Training Award for her specialist training in 2013. She obtained her Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) by National University of Singapore in 2016, completed her residency and attained specialist accreditation in 2018. She qualified as Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology (London) that same year. She completed a 2-year cataract and glaucoma fellowship in SNEC in 2020.
Subsequently, she won the NMRC Overseas clinical Research Training Award for an overseas fellowship - completing 2 fellowships in United Kingdom in glaucoma and paediatric glaucoma in world reknown centres Moorfields Eye Hospital and Addenbrookes Hospital (University of Cambridge Eye Hospital). She also completed a paediatric ophthalmology observership whilst in Cambridge. She is the recipient of the NMRC Clinician Innovator Award 2024 and attained her Mphil from University of Cambridge in 2024.
On the clinical front, she has won several awards in recognition of exemplary dedication and consistent clinical excellence in patient care, including winning the Singhealth quality service award (gold medal) in 2022, Singhealth quality service award (Star) 2024, Gratiservice Star Awards 2025 (Star) and GEM awards for excellence in clinical services in 2013. She is currently a senior consultant in the glaucoma department in Singapore National Eye Centre and also subspecialises in cataract and pediatric glaucoma.
Dr Lim is clinical assistant professor at Duke-NUS medical school. She is also a clinical instructor at the medical schools of Duke-NUS, NUS and NTU. She is a clinical faculty member and is actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate education of ophthalmology trainees and medical students, as well as paramedical staff, including optometrists and nurses. She is also actively involved in research and has published several scientific papers in respected peer-reviewed medical journals, including Ophthalmology and British Journal of ophthalmology. She actively participates in presentations at international and local conferences and also takes on the role of course director and course instructor at these conferences. Her current research interests are glaucoma and cataract surgery, pediatric glaucoma, myopia and glaucoma, genetics, clinical innovations and bioengineering.
