About Doctor

Dr Deborah Tan is a senior consultant with the Cataract and Comprehensive, and Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus Services at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). She is also a visiting senior consultant and the immediate past Head of Eye Centre at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Dr Tan obtained her medical degree from National University of Singapore (NUS). She is a member of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology and an accredited Ophthalmology Specialist by the Singapore Medical Council. After her specialist training at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), she obtained her Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) by NUS, and subsequently received further sub-specialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. 

With teaching at heart, Dr Tan is appointed a Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. She was awarded the NUS Medicine Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2023.

With patients at the heart of all she does, Dr Tan aims to deliver high quality care to her patients and has received the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2018 (Silver), 2019 (Silver) and 2021 (Gold). She was also awarded the National Awards for Covid Resilience in 2023.

Besides general ophthalmology, her clinical interests include paediatric ophthalmology, adult and paediatric cataracts, myopia, strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity.
