Sarah Eng

Staff Nurse at SNEC’s Operating Theatre, Sarah Eng, experienced a shift in her daily routines when she gathered the dedication and resolve to support the pool of healthcare workers battling COVID-19 in February this year. She completed a month-long deployment at SGH’s Isolation Ward, where her key role was to ensure other healthcare workers on the frontline were wearing the personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.

Sarah was the go-to person during her shift when the staff there needed help, and she also lent a hand when environment protocols and ward routines had to be observed and audited. Having a total of almost two decades of experience in Nursing, she was prepared to play an active role when the pandemic situation worsened.

“Initially my family and friends were worried about my deployment. But after understanding the situation, they gave me a lot of encouragement and support. The thank you cards and food from the public also kept us motivated.”

The pandemic and its effects could last the long-term, but she has these words to share with her peers. “Stay strong and healthy, my fellow warriors. We can overcome this together.”

Thank you, Sarah for your dedication and stepping up on behalf of SNEC to support the SGH Campus in the fight against COVID-19!
