SNEC 35

Synonym(s):

2025 is especially momentous as Singapore celebrates its 60th birthday, and SNEC proudly marks its 35th anniversary. These significant milestones offer a moment to celebrate how far we have come and to reaffirm our vision for the future.

Our founding Medical Director, the late Professor Arthur Lim, envisioned a world-class eye centre that would place Singapore on the global map for ophthalmology. Over the years our leaders and staff have built on that vision. Today, SNEC and SERI stand as recognised international leaders in ophthalmology, not only in patient care, but also in education and in research.

Our achievements, however, are not defined by infrastructure or technology alone. They are made possible by our people at the frontline of care, advancing research through SERI, training the next generation, or supporting our operations behind the scenes, each one plays an important role in fulfilling the shared purpose of preventing blindness and improving sight. In 2024, we received more than 426,000 patient visits and performed 30,000 surgeries at SNEC and our affiliated centres.

We are also aligning with Singapore’s Healthier SG movement to bring care closer to the community and place greater emphasis on preventive care. Together with SingHealth, we are embracing digital transformation, with the EPIC electronic medical record system forming the backbone of a future-ready academic medical campus.

Looking ahead, our 10-Year strategic priorities will continue to guide us in building peaks of excellence, developing talent, fostering collaboration and innovation, advancing a digital, data-driven and efficient organisation, and strengthening patient-centered and community-focused care.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone for your support.Together, we have built a proud legacy at SNEC. Let uscarry this spirit forward as we strive to even greaterheights in the next decade and beyond.
