We welcome Clin Assoc Prof Anshu Arundhati, who has taken over the Deputy Medical Director, Education and Academic Vice-Chair, Education role from Prof Ian Yeo on 1 March 2022, who had helmed the position for the past 12 years.
Clin Assoc Prof Arundhati was appointed as Core Faculty Member since 2014, which she has been involved in a whole range of activities in teaching Residents in their residency journey, across clinics and operating theatres (OT). She is also a cataract surgery trainer for the Residents for over a decade. As Clin Assoc Prof Arundhati became more senior, she held leadership roles. She became the Deputy Fellowship Director in 2016 and then Fellowship Director in 2018. In 2018, she took on a bigger role in Education and was appointed the Deputy Vice Chair of Education. After helming the position as Deputy Chair of Education for 4 years, Clin Assoc Prof Arundhati is now appointed as Vice Chair of Education on 1 March 2022 and re-designated as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of Education on 1 April 2022. We are also pleased to welcome Assoc Prof Shamira Perera as our newly-minted Programme Director of Ophthalmology Residency, who has taken over from Dr Livia Teo from 1 April 2022. He has been an integral part of our residency programme as a pioneer member of our Core Faculty team since 1 July 2011. A glaucoma specialist by training, he is also a great clinician and a role model to our young residents. He is also very much into clinical innovations, with research interest in medical technology for glaucoma and cataract, surgical devices and imaging. He shares where he hopes to take the SNEC Ophthalmology Residency programme to greater heights, moving forward.
