About

Dr Milton Chew is a Consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. His clinical expertise lies in cataract surgery, with a focus on presbyopia-correcting cataract surgery using multifocal intraocular lenses (MFIOLs), extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) lenses, and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). He also subspecialises in the management of ocular inflammation and uveitis, including the use of systemic immunosuppressive and biologic therapies for non-infectious uveitis.

He earned his Medical Degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2011 and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at SNEC. He obtained his Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2019, received Specialist Accreditation, and was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2021. Dr Chew subsequently completed a subspecialty fellowship in Ocular Inflammation and Immunology at SNEC in 2023.

In addition to clinical practice, Clinical Assistant Professor Milton Chew is actively engaged in academic research and medical education. He has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at regional and international conferences, and was previously awarded the Singapore Young Investigator Award in 2011. As a Clinical Assistant Professor, he plays an integral role in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees through the SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme.
