Dr Jayant V Iyer is a Consultant with the Glaucoma department in the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He completed his undergraduate medical training at NUS in 2004, was conferred the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine in 2009 and the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2011, for which he was awarded the MOH Postgraduate Examinations scholarship. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) in 2014 and completed his Fellowship examinations at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS), with a Gold Medal the same year.
He completed subspecialty training in glaucoma at SNEC in 2016 and was awarded the MOH HMDP award to pursue a post-doctoral matched clinical Glaucoma Fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute in Johns Hopkins, USA from 2016-2017. 
He is regularly involved in the training and education of residents, nurses and ophthalmic technicians at SNEC and was SNEC’s nomination for the Singhealth Golden Apple Young Educator Award in 2019. He co-authored a textbook for general practitioners across Singapore titled Essential Ophthalmology in 2012. He has published over 15 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, is regularly invited to present in various international conferences and won awards for research including the ARVO Travel Grant Award 2013 and the Merit Award at the International Ophthalmology Congress in 2010. His current research interests are in glaucoma surgery optimization, glaucoma health literacy, glaucoma definition and global ophthalmology. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins, USA and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Program. He is also Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. 
Dr Jayant has a keen interest in international ophthalmic humanitarian work and is Secretary for the Global Ophthalmology office for SNEC. In addition he is involved in setting up a Global Health program for Singapore Health Services as part of the Singhealth International Collaboration Office. He also runs his own non-profit organization – The Vision Mission – that is involved in setting up sustainable eye care programs in various developing countries. 
His current practice is focused on glaucoma and general ophthalmology and is based in SNEC and Changi General Hospital.
