A Scientific Journey from Industry to Academia…and Back
Abstract
While for most of the 20th century the division between Academia and Industry was well defined, particularly in areas related to biology or medicine, the 21st century has profoundly reshaped the connections between those two worlds, bringing them closer than ever. In this talk, I will use my personal journey as an example of how a life dedicated to science is a continuum that cannot be easily classified, where periods of academic introspection can be followed by bursts of group-based creativity, leading to equally meaningful positive impacts to society.
