INTERNATIONAL PATIENT SERVICE

At SNEC, our International Patient Service (IPS) team provides a wide spectrum of services to patients from overseas and their family members, ensuring them of a pleasant and comfortable experience throughout their stay.

Our services include:

Appointments and Referrals

Help you arrange an appointment with the appropriate eye specialist. Based on the medical history provided, we will recommend and schedule an appointment for you with an appropriate specialist.

Accommodation

Help you find a hotel or serviced apartment that best meets your needs and budget, at the Hospital's corporate rate.

Transportation

Help you make arrangements for transfer to the hospital from the airport or hotel, via limousine, ambulance or taxi to ensure that you have a smooth connection.

Concierge Services

  • Interpreters for non-English speaking patients
  • Foreign exchange
  • Private nursing service
  • Business Centre Services including faxing, photocopying and assisting in the extension of social visit passes

Evacuation/Return to Home Country

Help co-ordinate with various medical assistance agencies to evacuate patients to Singapore for treatment. We also assist with return to home country arrangements.

Q. How do I make an appointment to see an eye specialist at Singapore National Eye Centre? 
A. Our International Patient Service (IPS) officers will be happy to schedule appointments for you at the Singapore National Eye Centre.

Q. What information would I need to provide to make the first appointment?
A. Please provide us with the following details:
  • Name of Patient (as in the passport)
  • Passport number
  • Current address
  • Contact phone number
  • Date of birth
  • Notes on your medical problem
  • Preferred date of appointment
Q. If I do not have a specific doctor in mind, would you be able to recommend a doctor?
A. Yes, we will be happy to recommend a doctor based on the information provided by you on your condition.
Q. What documents would I need to bring with me for my first appointment?
A. For your first appointment, please bring along any medical records/history, x-rays, current medication, and all relevant information pertaining to your medical condition. If you are referred by a doctor, please bring along the contact details of the referring doctor.
Q. Do I need a doctor's referral from my home country?
A. No, you do not need a referral from your home country.
Q. Would I need a visa in order to enter Singapore to seek medical treatment?
A. Patients from ASEAN countries (except for Myanmar) do not require a visa to enter Singapore. For the list of countries where nationals require a visa to enter Singapore, please kindly check the Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA) website at www.ica.gov.sg.
Q. If my treatment requires that I enter Singapore several times, would I need a visa for subsequent visits?
A.  You can apply for a multiple entry visa with the Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA) if your treatment requires that you enter Singapore several times. The hospital can issue a letter to support your application, if necessary.
Q. Would I be informed of the medical costs associated with my treatment before I come to Singapore?
A. We will give you the estimated medical costs, based on the medical report you provide. However, should there be a revision to the estimated charges given earlier, following your first consultation with the doctor, we will inform you again of the revised estimated medical costs.
Q. Is there accommodation near the hospital for my family members?
A. We can arrange for accommodation either at nearby hotels for short-stays or serviced apartments for longer stays. Click here for list of hotels.
Q. I do not speak English, Mandarin or Malay, can you arrange for translators?
A. We will be happy to arrange for translators for you. Just inform our International Patient Service officers when your appointment at the hospital is confirmed. Note that this service will be chargeable.
Q. Can your hospital cater for special dietary needs?
A.  We can make the appropriate arrangements. Please inform our International Patient Service officers when you are admitted. The Singapore General Hospital kitchens are also halal-certified.
