“The best feeling in the world is seeing their faces when they can finally return to their sport.”

"Ikigai is a Japanese concept which means 'a reason for being'.  When I was 14, I tore my meniscus and spent countless hours in rehab doing physiotherapy. It was then that I decided that I wanted to be a physiotherapist to help injured athletes get back on their feet and continue doing what they love.

Fast forward to today, I have learnt, gained and experienced so much thanks to my mentors, colleagues and most importantly, my patients. I have helped student athletes, the weekend warriors and para-athletes in my course of work. The best feeling in the world is seeing their faces when they can finally return to their sport - be it a polo player getting back on his horse after a shoulder dislocation or a goalkeeper returning to the field post knee surgery.

Each patient is special and moments like these make being a physiotherapist so worthwhile.  My ikigai."
