The Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Service provides investigations, diagnosis and management of a wide range of uveitic and ocular immunological disorders.

These ocular inflammatory conditions result in significant ocular morbidity and are estimated to account for 5-15% of blindness. Common ocular inflammations seen at our service include:
- HLA-B27 related anterior uveitis
- Fuch's Heterochromic iridocyclitis
Posner Schlossman Syndrome
- Intermediate uveitis
- Behcet's disease
- Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada Syndrome
- Ocular infections such as acute and chronic endophthalmitis
- Toxoplasmosis chorioretinitis
- Tuberculosis uveitis
- Ocular malignancies such as ocular lymphoma

The Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Service is a tertiary service.
We receive referrals from local and regional Ophthalmologists. The service sees about 5000 clinical attendance annually.

Our service provides advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options including:
- Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for microbes
- HLA phenotyping
- Radiological and angiograpghic investigations
- A wide range of blood biochemistry, immunology and serology investigations

The service is also committed to training and education. We provide medical undergraduate, residency and advanced training in Uveitis and Ocular Immunology. Local and Foreign Uveitis and Ocular Immunology clinical and research fellow positions are offered on a regular basis.
Commitment to research is one of our core activities. Major research projects undertaken include new treatment modalities, Uveitis epidemiology and multicentre new intraocular drug delivery systems.
The service co-manages more complex cases with other subspecialties such as corneal, glaucoma and vitreo-retinal services. Together, we provide comprehensive and holistic management of Uveitis and Ocular Immunological disorders.
