An 'Eye' Opening Exhibition
Today

Peer into the eyes of 14 of Singapore’s iconic personalities – including those of Mr Lee Kuan Yew in pictures taken when he was Minister Mentor – in a new exhibition at the Red Dot Museum.

Called “Eyes That Tell Stories”, the exhibition brings together art and science, with close-up pictures of irises that have been artistically stylized – some spear to depict a new species of sunflower.

Professor Wong Tien Yin, the director of Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), said the exhibition is aimed at raising awareness about the institute’s eye research.  Prof Wong, who pioneered research on using eye vessel changes to detect certain health conditions and diseases, said : “This is a very innovative way of raising awareness because we are trying to merge science with art… It creates a very exciting way for us to look at how we have approached our research subjects as well as to appreciate… as a researcher and as a doctor, the beauty of the eyes.”

The exhibition can be visited until June 30.
